Harmony United
The story of Harmony United follows four congreations of the United Church.
Millbrook and Cavan
After selling their church buildings in 2004, the Millbrook and Cavan congregation initially rented the Millbrook original building back for services. When the property was sold again, they moved to renting the gym at Millbrook School, where they met until the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bailieboro and Springville
In 2009, the Bailieboro and Springville congregations decided to unite as one. They sold both of their buildings in 2012 and began renting space at the Centreville Church for their services until COVID-19. In 2013, they joined with Millbrook and Cavan, forming the two-point charge of Harmony.
Centreville Presbyterian
The congregation’s history dates back to 1833. The current church was erected in 1863 on land donated by John Deyell and a fellowship hall was added in 2013 to expand its reach into the community. The church serves as a gathering place for the community.
A Shared Ministry
In 2022, a joint committee was formed between Harmony and Centreville to explore the possibility of a union. By 2023, the congregations had officially joined and were working on a shared agreement to become what is now Centreville-Harmony Church. This Ecumenical Shared Minstry Agreement was affirmed by both congregations in 2024.
As the sole remaining church on County Road 28, the congregation seeks to be an enduring presence to God’s work in the community. Our hope is to be a place of warmth, inclusion, welcome and hope for the community.
